The North of La Palma is ideal for exploring the unspoilt rural and forest areas of the north coast, with many deep ravines and mountain slopes reaching from the steep sea cliffs to the top of the island. Its economy is mainly based on agriculture and livestock (mainly: goats).

On the higher slopes you will find laurel forest of Los Tilos and the most spectacular canary pine trees on the island. The steep cliffs of the coastline are a protected area of outstanding natural beauty. There are access to small seawater pools, like Charco Azul and La Fajana.

The Mirador del Time (locally known as El Time) is an viewing point with cafe on the top of a rock face 500 m above Tazacorte beach on the road from Los Llanos to Tijarafe and Puntagorda. From the viewpoint is a magnificent view over the Aridane Valley, Tazacorte, the Cumbres, the entrance to the Caldera and the coast past Puerto Naos and towards Fuencaliente.
